I think their summer sales are normally better than black friday, it's more of an American thing than anywhere else so not surprised if they don't really value it.
Even Netherlands nowdays if you not do Black Friday in store, you falling out of line as store.
Most stores in the UK don't take it seriously, infact they rise the prices of things they're 'putting on sale' and then lower them to the original price.
Store price is higher then buy in price. So lowering group of products to the buy in price, pulls in people, who then the store hopes also buys things not under the black friday deals.
I mean it isn't really a "sale" if they increase the price to bring it back down to it's original price or £1 below, so they don't actually take it seriously.
The way I described is how they do mostly Back Friday in NL.
