The new Need for Speed is being developed by Criterion of Burnout fame. EA has merged the team with Codemasters Cheshire, who previously worked on Dirt 5 with a few ex-Evolution employees who worked on OnRush and Driveclub.

The Need for Speed series is reportedly getting a new entry in November. Apparently, EA has dropped the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, and Criterion's racer will be PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
