Lost Sea Washes Ashore Next Month

By Kelly Packard,
We've reported on Eastasiasoft's Lost Sea only twice since it was announced in 2014. I could make a bunch of "hilarious" jokes about how it was "lost at sea," but luckily for you I already did that in the tagline, so I'll skip that part and instead let you know that the procedurally-generated exploration title now has an official release date with a trailer to accompany it.

You never know what you're going to get with each island in Lost Sea. Aidan Price from Eastasiasoft is pleased with how the island system turned out. He promises that the game is "pretty challenging."

Implementing a procedural generation system is a pretty large endeavor. It takes a lot of work to devise a system that makes the game world sufficiently different while ensuring that the islands created are possible for the player to complete and have a good mix of elements. Throughout the course of development, we saw our fair share of crazy islands. From tiny beaches populated entirely with the deadliest creatures the game has to offer to having the player’s ship trapped on a lake inside the island, Lost Sea definitely kept us on our toes!
Lost Sea will be available on Playstation 4 on July 5th in America and Asia, July 6th in Europe and Australasia, and July 7th in Japan.

We've got the full list of Lost Sea trophies - check the list for guides to unlocking them.
