Rocket League Beta Begins Today

By Brooker,
Back in December, developer Psyonix announced they were finally making a follow-up to their addictive destruction derby/soccer cross-over game Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Today, we get a few more details and an invite to join the beta for PlayStation 4 exclusive arena-car-sport-thingy Rocket League.

Speaking on the PlayStation Blog Psyonix's Community Director, Jeremy Dunham has shared some new details on the game's development cycle, which sadly includes a slight delay from the previously announced "Spring 2015" window. He has also shared a little insight into the quality assurance that's going into the game and how they'd like us, the players, to help them out by beta testing the game's online portion for a little while.

Development is in the final stretch, but given that we’re running out of spring months, our target release date is changing to summer 2015. Our number-one priority is bringing you, our fans, a fun, high-quality game and we want to do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Which brings us to how you can help us achieve that goal — by participating in the Rocket League closed beta.

Earlier this week, we began rolling out beta access to select members of our existing Rocket League and Battle-Cars community, but starting TODAY, we want to expand it.
So, as of right now, Players in the EU territories (or those with EU accounts) can sign up to the beta and help shape the game a little when it arrives in the coming months with US players getting the opportunity to sign up in the near future.

Now, this is a true beta test with missing or locked down features there specifically for testing purposes (not one of those demos disguised as a beta thing) and should absolutely be treated like a test phase.

• Server times will run from 4:00pm to 4:00am GMT
• Because this test is specifically for matchmaking and server functionality, most final-game features are disabled.
• Season Mode and Car Customisation are disabled, only one stadium is available for play
• These keys are for Europe only. North American keys will be made available on the US PlayStation blog, so be sure to check over there to claim one if it applies to you
• This initial beta phase will end in early May.
We've also got a few sneaky in-game shots to whet our appetites a little.

Also has delusions that one day, someone will take his writing about games or films seriously!
Sadly, that's unlikely. it took three attempts and an editor just to write this bio!
