Final Fantasy XIV Patch 2.5 Details

The "Heavensward" expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PS4) is due to be released this spring. Before that happens, Square Enix wants to make sure that they have concluded the game's main scenario and they're planning to do this in "Patch 2.5 - Before the Fall". This patch will be so big that the developer is planning on releasing it in three parts, with the first part to arrive next week.

The first part of the update will add myriad challenges for all adventurers, two-thirds of the final quests for the main scenario, and conclusions for the Crystal Tower and The World of Darkness quest lines. This won't be all though — take a look at the this new trailer for a rundown of what to expect:

If you can't watch the trailer or don't have ten minutes to spare, perhaps you'll be more interested in these screenshots instead. The first four showcase some of the eight main scenario quests that will be added to the game.

There will be three new dungeons added to the game. The Keeper of the Lake is the easiest of the three.

The Wanderer's Palace is a dungeon for players who prefer Hard challenges.

Amdapor Keep is also a Hard dungeon.

These next screenshots are from the five Hildibrand side story quests.

The Urth's Fount trial features players taking on the mighty Odin FATE.

Meanwhile, the Battle in the Big Keep trial pits players against Gilgamesh.

The World of Darkness is the next raid to be added to the Crystal Tower quest line.
