Canadian developer Slick Entertainment has announced Viking Squad, a co-op beat-em up for Playstation 4.
In Viking Squad, players will lead a viking raid party sent on a quest to bring back treasure to their greedy Jarl. However, players will soon find out there is something "unnatural" about him. Players will choose from four vikings and level up and equip different gear, improving their stats; they are also "snapped to lanes to reduce confusion on whether your attack will connect." Slick Entertainment wants to place higher importance on player skill and precision, and thus critical hits will need to be well timed.
Every playthrough takes players on a voyage across the sea to raid neighboring enemies. After exhausting supplies your party returns with what you were able to take away, you then re-equip and do it again. Hopefully getting further than you did before! Each voyage has access to different locations and items based on your team’s performance — it’s a rogue-lite in that sense.
Viking Squad is set for release on Playstation 4 sometime in 2015.
