To my Battlefront Friends...
To the Battlestation Bullies, the SWO...I regret to inform you that I will not being joining you in Star Wars Battlefront 2.
This isn't a principled stance against money clutching EA and their Pay2Win loot boxes or terrible community management (but like, holy shit though they bungled this). No, I regret to inform you I won't be playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 simply as a matter of competing priorities.
On top of my regular full-time job, I have taken up seasonal employment at Target in Electronics. I get to talk and help out some cool gamers just like yourself, and I'm excited to sell the heck out of some SWBFII tomorrow. Working at Target has been, for lack of a better term, euphoric. I get a high from helping people problem solve finding something or assisting with Christmas shopping.
To add to that, I've been involved with volunteering. I'll be performing in a church production of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" for the second year in a row and also have participated in a few other one-off volunteering opportunities lately as well. In January I will be starting training for volunteering with the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center for a long-term commitment.
I'm also in preliminary discussions to attend higher education for the first time in my life, nearly 15 years after I graduated high school. My tentative start date is January.
Playing Battlefront with you guys was an absolute blast for me in 2016 and early 2017. So much so that I felt like writing a blog about and telling you as such. I was battling depression at the time and it got so bad at one point that I lost my job. I was unemployed for 2 months. Playing Battlefront is what got me through it all and was a spectacular escape, so much so that I barely had to mention my depression to you all as in those moments, they were gone. I literally had the time of my life playing Battlefront with you all.
It's with great sadness that I bid farewell to you all. I leave the door open to joining you all once again (don't delete me!!) but for now 2017/2018 will have very little gaming in my life. Ryan, Time_Crusher, Tryhard, David, Dave, Mick (sorry if I missed someone), you guys turned my favorite game into just one of the favorite time periods of my life. Thank you all so much.
